ProDemos for schools

Dutch civic education teachers who are looking for ways to engage their students vividly with democracy, politics and rule of law, can turn to ProDemos for a wide range of options: political excursions, guest lectures, role-playing exercises and a variety of teaching materials dealing with current topics. These programmes and materials are free of charge and designed for Dutch-speaking pupils attending non-bilingual primary and secondary school programmes or non-bilingual secondary vocational education (mbo).

Non-Dutch options

Unfortunately, we currently do not offer any English-language school programmes. Instead, you can book a guided tour in English to the House of Representatives in The Hague. This way non-Dutch pupils can get acquainted with our national politics. Read more about these guided tours

Secondly, we offer some programmes for International Transition Classes (ISK). As the main goal of these classes is to teach students the Dutch language and prepare them for regular Dutch high school or vocational education, these programmes are in Dutch. Our lecturers take the students’ language level into account though. Read more about these programmes (in Dutch)

Caribbean schools

Everyone in the Kingdom of the Netherlands has the right to learn about the rules and the importance of our liberal democracy. Therefore, primary, secondary, and secondary vocational schools in the public entities of Bonaire, Saba, and Sint-Eustatius can also turn to ProDemos. We offer the educational programmes ‘Democracity’, the ‘Democracy Game’, and a ‘Court Role-Play’. Through these, pupils and students learn more about politics, decision-making, and the administration of justice. Both in local and general context. Read more and find out how you can book a programme
